The DTI trunk card supports a T-1 or PRI digital circuit into the Norstar system. These digital circuits provide benefits and cost-savings for businesses that need more than 14-16 lines. A T-1 circuit supports up to a maximum of 24 voice channels, which must be mapped for inbound and outbound traffic, while a PRI circuit supports up to 23 voice channels, with enhanced features such as Caller-ID and DID functionality. The DTI trunk card also requires a clocking card to function properly, either a 6-port fiber combo card, or services card (see below) installed in the base cabinet. For PRI, an Enabler Code must also be purchased in order to unlock the functionality in the system software.
